The 20-year-old actress and model is quickly becoming a rising star in Indian cinema, playing lead roles in critically acclaimed films like ABCD2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. In this interview, Andriani discusses her career path, what drives her to succeed, and how she balances her work and personal life.
Q: How did you get interested in acting?
A: Ever since I was a little girl I loved performing. Initially, it started off as just doing theater plays with my school friends but eventually it led me into more serious dramatic roles in school plays and small productions. When I was 16 years old I finally decided that making the plunge into acting full time was the right decision for me and enrolled in a drama academy in Mumbai. It was there that I got my first role on television which really gave me the push I needed to continue on this journey.
Q: What are your thoughts on your career so far?
A: To be honest, it’s still kind of surreal for me to be where I am today. It definitely wasn’t easy – there were many times when I thought about giving up or changing my path – but overall I’m very happy with where things have taken me. ABCD2 was such a great experience – playing opposite Akshay Kumar was amazing! And now Yeh Jawaani Hai Deew ani is coming out and I can’t wait to see what people think of it.
Q: What drives you to succeed?
A: I guess the main thing that drives me is my passion for performing. I love being in front of an audience and being able to share my stories with them. It’s also important to me that I am able to give back to the industry – by creating positive role models for other young actors and by speaking out against sexism and racism.
