A viewing will be held at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory located at 3860 Asbury Road on Thursday, July 6th from 3 PM to 8 PM to celebrate Jesse’s life and contributions. The event is open to family, friends, and colleagues of Jesse.
Family and close friends are invited to a special celebration
A special celebration of Jesse’s life will be held at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory on July 7, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Family members and close friends will be invited to share memories and celebrate Jesse’s life.

Education is at the core of my life
Upon graduating from Bellevue Public High School in 2000, Jesse began his education. He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health and physical education from Loras College before earning a master’s degree in sports administration from American Public University. Morningside University also granted him an administrative endorsement.
His passion for education and student development remained constant throughout his 18-year tenure at Dubuque Community School District. As a physical education teacher at Sageville Elementary, he later worked as a student needs facilitator at Roosevelt Middle School before becoming Marshall Elementary’s principal.

The importance of family and sports
With a love for his family and a passion for sports, Jesse had a wonderful life. Though he was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, Jesse’s life revolved around his family, especially his three children – Landen Hayden Mason, his greatest joy and pride.
A smile that united a community
Jesse had an infectious smile and warm, welcoming presence that instantly put people at ease, providing comfort and encouragement to colleagues and students alike. Through his kindhearted nature, everyone around him felt appreciated and comfortable – an example of true generosity.
